Lindalas guide to WOW Hunters

Addons

I love the ability to customize my UI and am constantly searching for the perfect Addons. That said I'm also very concerned about system performance and don't like throwing in more junk than is necessary. My plan is to use these pages to keep a tally of my choice of addons divided into three groups.

Main UI /Combat covers addons that I use in all situations, whether they are BG, farming or raiding/instances.

Raiding addons for a hunter really only cover two aspects: raid frames (shows the members of the raids, the main tanks and targets) as well as raid warnings that provide useful information depending on which boss you are on etc. Healers will find many more raid addons that make it easier for them to do their job... hunters only have to kill (the right opponent).

Battlegrounds are similar to raids but the needs (for a hunter) is different. There is seldom a main tank and the information needs are different.

Utility addons make administration tasks easier such as the auction house and inventory manangement.

One big change in my addon strategy is the move to ACE2 addons (as much as possible). This provides me with a central update system (MacAceUpdater and WinAceUpdater). The reliance on shared libraries also helps improve memory usage and keeping core functionality up to date.

Builds

I'm currently mainly BM specced (41/12/8) and love BM. We'll see what I do once I get into more instances/raiding. I've found I don't like the MM talents Rapid Killing (because I always underuse talents with long cooldowns) and Aimed Shot (the setup takes too long for my taste. After I got Steady Shot and Blizz (re)nerfed Arcane Shot I dropped the Improved Arcane Shot I had been using and am now mainly using Steady Shot (with Viper I can almost keep Steady Shot up forever).

[Future spec?]

Stats

I've done some comparisons between AP, Agi and Crit Ratings here.
